Israel informs Washington of its concerns regarding Hamas’s disarmament

In its first official response to the agreement on the disarmament of Hamas in the Gaza Strip, Israel announced that it had conveyed its concerns and observations to Washington.

Doron Spielman, spokesperson for the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office, told Agence France-Presse in response to a question that « Israel has informed its American counterparts of its comments and concerns regarding the proposed framework ».

He added that « the version that has been published does not reflect Israel’s positions ».

Last Friday, US President Donald Trump announced that an agreement had been reached on the disarmament of Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

The text states that both Israel and Hamas must cease their military operations.

The agreement also provides for « a gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces from the areas they still control in Gaza », as well as « the dismantling of armed groups », including Hamas.
