U.S. official reveals Iran’s position on the Hamas disarmament agreement

A U.S. official has revealed Iran’s position regarding the agreement accepted by Hamas that outlines the future of the Gaza Strip.

The American official, speaking to Reuters, explained that Iran had attempted to persuade Hamas not to approve the agreement, adding that Washington had nevertheless succeeded in overcoming that opposition.

The agreement, reached by the Peace Council with mediation from Egypt, Turkey, and Qatar, consists of twelve provisions and defines the future of the Gaza Strip, including Hamas‘s disarmament.

The U.S. official stated that Washington is confident that Israel will comply with the terms of the agreement, noting that “if Israel does not approve it, Trump will be disappointed.”

He clarified that the United States is not asking Israel to accept anything that was not already included in the previous plan, referring to the twenty-point agreement that ended the war in Gaza and was signed in the Egyptian resort city of Sharm el-Sheikh in Sinai.

On Friday, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that the Peace Council had reached a historic agreement aimed at the complete disarmament of Hamas and all other armed factions in Gaza.

The American president described the agreement as a decisive step toward finally placing Gaza under the authority of a new Palestinian government.

Israeli Channel 12 also reported that U.S. officials had confirmed Hamas‘s acceptance of the provisions concerning the disarmament and demilitarization of Gaza.

The following are the main provisions of the Peace Council agreement on Gaza, according to Israeli Channel 12:
