The actress lost her libel suit against the Pirates of the Caribbean star. Since the announcement of their divorce in 2016, the two artists had embarked on a merciless war. Amber Heard had not hesitated to accuse her ex-husband of domestic violence, enough to taint the career of the latter. But thanks to the judges’ decision, Johnny Depp lives quieter days and has even found the direction of film sets.
The actor, who had been dismissed from Pirates of the Caribbean because of this scandal, can now console himself with a brand new film. Johnny Depp thus won the role of King Louis XV in “Jeanne Du Barry” by Maïwenn. This production therefore marks the first role of Johnny Depp in a feature film in three years. And to the delight of fans, the French company Why Not Productions has unveiled a first image of the actor in this emblematic role… One thing is certain, it is that the actor is unrecognizable.

As we reveal Deadline, Production Company Rust And Bone and A Prophet also confirmed that filming for the feature film began on July 26 for 11 weeks, with locations including Versailles and other castles in the Paris region as well as in studio. This ambitious drama is loosely inspired by the life of Jeanne du Barry, last royal mistress of Louis XV at the Court of Versailles, after Madame de Pompadour. Among the other actors of this beautiful project are Benjamin Lavernhe, Pierre Richard, Melvil Poupaud, Noémie Lvovsky, Pascal Greggory and India Hair. No release date has yet been communicated, but we can’t wait to discover new photos from the set of Jeanne Du Barry and Johnny Depp.
