Lionel Messi Speaks Truths About His Transfer to Paris, PSG Frustrated!
Facing the media, Lionel Messi, the new star of Inter Miami, discussed his arrival at PSG, which he describes as “unwanted.”
After nearly twenty years at FC Barcelona, financial constraints imposed by La Liga forced the Argentine forward to leave Catalonia, over a month after the expiration of his contract.
His hasty departure led him to Paris Saint-Germain, following the failure of Barcelona’s sports management.
Although his two seasons with the Parisian club were marked by 32 goals and 35 assists, they left a bitter taste among supporters and Messi himself.
However, his 75 appearances in two years, across all tournaments, were marred by premature exits from the Champions League as well as criticisms of his level of commitment.
Leaving the French club at the end of his contract, Messi had the choice between returning to FC Barcelona or embarking on an adventure in Saudi Arabia.
Ultimately, he chose a new adventure in Major League Soccer, playing for Inter Miami, the club owned by former English legend David Beckham.
The passion for Messi quickly spread in Florida.
During his media presentation on Thursday, having already scored 9 goals in 6 matches with the Herons and leading them to the League’s Cup final, the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner revisited his forced move to PSG:
“I am very happy because it was my choice to join Inter Miami, unlike Paris where it was a hasty decision. Coming to PSG was neither desired nor planned. I never wanted to leave Barcelona. Everything happened from one day to the next. (…) It was difficult, but fortunately, my situation in Miami is very different from what I experienced in Paris.”
These statements confirm his struggle to adapt to Paris Saint-Germain, where he never truly found his place.
On the other hand, his experience in Florida seems very positive:
“Upon my arrival, I was welcomed in an impressive manner. Miami is a city with a strong Latino presence, which makes things easier. Latinos are warmer, more expressive. They constantly express their affection, their closeness. This is the most important, healthy, and enjoyable aspect to settle in and appreciate what we do.”
A statement that should raise questions on the Paris side.
