Paris Saint-Germain Star Sparks Controversy with Reaction to Barcelona Win

Frenchman Ousmane Dembélé, a Paris Saint-Germain star, sparked controversy after reacting to a post by Dutchman Frenkie de Jong.

Both players featured in the Paris Saint-Germain vs. Barcelona match in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals, where the Catalan club secured a 3-2 victory in France.

De Jong shared pictures of himself from his involvement against Paris Saint-Germain on his Instagram account, captioned: “Thank you for your support, see you next week at home.”

What stirred controversy was that Dembélé, a former Barcelona player, liked De Jong’s post, despite playing for Paris Saint-Germain and scoring a goal in the match.

Dembélé moved from Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain, sparking anger from the club management and fans.

Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain will meet on Tuesday in the second leg match at the Louis Companys Olympic Stadium.

According to the newspaper “Mundo Deportivo,” Paris Saint-Germain has never succeeded in qualifying for the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League when losing the first leg at home.

The newspaper noted that this has occurred on six previous occasions, where it has failed each time to achieve a “remontada” in the return legs.

Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain have faced each other 14 times, with Barcelona winning six, while Paris Saint-Germain has won four, and four matches have ended in a draw.

The winner of the match between Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain will face the winner of the match between Bayern Munich and Arsenal in the semi-final.
