Qatar’s Emir orders a cabinet reshuffle


The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim ben Hamad Al-Thani, announced on Tuesday a new cabinet reshuffle that included the appointment of Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari as Minister of Finance.

Al-Kuwari took over the finance portfolio as minister of trade and industry and acting minister of finance.

According to the Qatari Amiri Diwan, the cabinet reshuffle decision is No. 4 of 2021 to amend the composition of the cabinet.

According to the new resolution, the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change was created, and Dr. Faleh Ben Ahmed Ben Ali Al Thani was appointed its minister.

The new cabinet reshuffle dissolved the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports into two ministries: the first under the name “Culture” and the second under “Youth and Sports”.

Salah bin Ghanem al-Ali was named minister of youth and sports, and Sheik Abdulrahman bin Hamad bin Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani was named minister of culture.

Dr. Ali Ben Said Ben Samikh Al-Marri was also appointed Minister of Employment and the Ministry of Social Development and Family, Mariam bint Ali ben Nasser al-Missned, was appointed Ministry of Social Development and Family, noting that the Ministry of Development and Labor previously was part of a single ministry.

Buthaina Bint Ali Al-Jabr Al-Nuaimi was chosen as minister of education and higher education after the return of education to the ministry of higher education.

The cabinet reshuffle included the appointment of Ghanem bin Shaheen al-Ghanem as minister of endowments and Islamic affairs, replacing the chief of staff of Qatar’s armed forces.
