Sudan Crisis: Fire of Clashes Surrounds Military and Strategic Areas
Bloody battles and fierce clashes have erupted between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) to tighten control over military and strategic areas in Khartoum and other cities.
Violent clashes broke out this Sunday morning around the “Armored Corps” vicinity, south of the capital Khartoum, and at the “Engineers Corps” location in Omdurman, west of the capital, in order to assert control and influence over these strategic military zones.
Witnesses informed that heavy and qualitative arms clashes erupted in the vicinity of the “Armored Corps” south of the capital Khartoum.
Eyewitnesses stated that the sounds of heavy artillery and explosions were heard in the vicinity of the area.
According to eyewitnesses, both the “Sports City” and the “Camps Ground” have also witnessed fierce clashes since the early hours of the morning, causing flames and smoke to rise from these areas.
At the same time, neighborhoods like “Al-Daim,” “Al-Ashra,” “Al-Shajara,” “Al-Rumaila,” “Jabra,” “Al-Sahafa,” “Al-Salama,” and “Soba” to the south of the capital are witnessing a drastic deterioration in electricity and water services due to the ongoing clashes in the region.
The city of Omdurman, west of the capital, is also experiencing continuous clashes with heavy and light arms.
Eyewitnesses mentioned that heavy and light arms battles are currently taking place in the vicinity of the “Engineers Corps” in the area. Additionally, the city of Bahri, north of the capital Khartoum, has also seen fierce clashes, exacerbating the suffering of citizens.
Since the outbreak of clashes between the army and the Rapid Support Forces in mid-April, the RSF has been striving to solidify its control over the “Armored Corps” south of the capital Khartoum, the “Engineers Corps” in Omdurman, and the “Signal Corps” in Bahri.
The city of Nyala, the capital of South Darfur state (west), is also facing a deteriorating security situation due to the ongoing clashes between the Sudanese army and the “Rapid Support Forces.”
Eyewitnesses confirmed that the Sudanese army is making great efforts to prevent the Rapid Support Forces from entering the headquarters of the military command center in the region. The RSF is aiming to consolidate its control over the 16th Infantry Division in Nyala due to its strategic and military significance.
The city of El-Fula in West Kordofan state (south) is also witnessing a deteriorating security situation due to the ongoing clashes. The Rapid Support Forces have also gathered their troops to launch an attack on the city of Nahud in the state.
Witnesses mentioned that the Sudanese army has dispatched military reinforcements to the city to protect government facilities and commercial establishments.
As the conflict enters its fifth month, the United Nations has sounded the alarm, estimating that the death toll has exceeded 3,000, mostly civilians, with over 6 million Sudanese on the brink of famine.
Former Sovereign Council member and leading figure in the Forces for Freedom and Change, Mohammed El-Faki, warned of the dangerous humanitarian situation in Sudan as the crisis enters its fifth month. He demanded an end to the suffering of the Sudanese people.
The army led by General Abdul Fattah Al-Burhan, the head of the Sovereign Council, and the Rapid Support Forces led by General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo “Hemeti” are exchanging accusations of responsibility for initiating the fighting and committing violations during successive ceasefires.
