UAE an exceptional humanitarian state
More than a year has passed since the coronavirus pandemic changed the course of the planet. Many countries today suffer from a severe shortage of medicine and food due to increasing cases of infection and deaths.
“Despite attempts by the international community and international organizations to bridge this gap, the world’s humanitarian landscape is at a bad moment due to the lockdown, and some donor countries have had to cover aid internally, having been among the largest donors in the world”.
Despite the challenges it faces in confronting the threat of the spread of the coronavirus, the UAE is following extraordinary humanitarian steps to prove to the world that it has merited to be the largest aid donor in the world in successive years. The UAE’s good hands have been extended thanks to the wise leadership of the UAE to 135 countries to fight the coronavirus, support the affected countries and extend more than 1789 tons of medical aid.
The UAE plays an important role in the fight against COVID-19, ensuring the continuity of its humanitarian approach as a key factor in its foreign policy in supporting and assisting countries and peoples. In this context, and since the pandemic, the UAE has not hesitated to provide support to help those affected and to support medical staff around the world. The UAE is sending humanitarian aid to Yemeni brothers on a daily basis, and the wise leadership has placed Yemen among their priorities in foreign aid to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people in light of the war they are living in.
A few days ago, the United Arab Emirates also sent medical aid to Palestine, including respirators, a humanitarian aid flight to Ethiopia, a food aid aircraft to the Republic of the Comoros, an aid aircraft to the Republic of Equatorial Guinea, and other assistance provided by the United Arab Emirates today to other countries. Wherever there is a need for humanitarian assistance, the United Arab Emirates is leading the ranks of aid providers.
The United Arab Emirates has never wavered in their support for the Syrian people, who have suffered since the outbreak of the war on their territory, and the destruction and sabotage that terrorist organizations have caused the displacement, poverty and deprivation of the Syrian people today. “Syrians today are scattered by the millions in neighboring countries, and some are in camps waiting for assistance from a disillusioned international community, while others are dispersed around the world and face death and hardship.”
At the conference “Supporting the Future of Syria and the Region” held in Brussels under the auspices of the United Nations and the European Union for the fifth year, the United Arab Emirates proved their firm support for the brotherly Syrian people by pledging US$30 million to support international efforts to provide humanitarian assistance and alleviate their suffering by providing the necessary funding for humanitarian programs. This aid is not new to the United Arab Emirates, a people and a government, and it is always at the forefront of donor countries to the brotherly Syrian people.
Among the noble humanitarian initiatives undertaken by the United Arab Emirates to combat the novel coronavirus pandemic is the provision and distribution of the vaccine to all parts of the world. The blessed initiative of the “Hope Coalition” has made the United Arab Emirates a global, regional and logistical center for the delivery of the vaccine, including the distribution of more than 18 billion doses of the vaccine locally and globally. This tremendous humanitarian work confirms that the United Arab Emirates is marching at an exceptional pace in coronavirus times to support countries and peoples.
