60 wounded in Kazakhstan military site blast
At least 60 people have been injured in ammunition storage explosions in southern Kazakhstan, in Central Asia.
The injured included soldiers and rescuers, President Kassym-Jomart Tokaiev said via his Twitter account on Thursday.
Villages surrounding the military compound in the Zambel area were evacuated.
Kazakh media reported that more than 700 people were transferred to a safe place. Railway traffic in the area was temporarily suspended due to the blasts.
The teenagers news agency published a video showing a huge fire, a column of smoke rising into the sky.
According to the Ministry of Defense, there were 6 explosions. There were no initial reports of casualties and the cause of the blasts was not immediately known.
