Perseids every minute… Meteor shower illuminates the region’s sky
The Perseids meteor shower lit up the skies of Egypt and some countries in the region from Tuesday night until Thursday morning.
Meteor showers on earth… The Cause: Comet Debris
Specialists and astronomy enthusiasts are observing this astronomical phenomenon that lights up the sky with about 120 multi-colored meteors, creating a beautiful scene eagerly awaited by astronomy enthusiasts every year.
Dr. Ashraf Tadros, a professor of astronomy at the National Institute for Astronomical and Geophysical Research in Egypt, stated that the Perseids meteor shower is the queen of meteor showers.
He added that astronomy enthusiasts follow this phenomenon, considering it one of the best and most beautiful meteor showers throughout the year. He confirmed the possibility of seeing one meteor every minute in the absence of the moon. The moon will be out of sight throughout the Waxing Crescent phase on Wednesday, heralding the birth of the new moon. The moon rises with the sun and sets with it, with the illuminated face facing the sun and the dark side facing the Earth.
According to astronomers, this night is the best night during December, and astronomers highly recommend it for observing faint celestial objects such as galaxies, distant star clusters, and starry clusters.
The Perseids meteor shower occurs annually from December 7th to 17th, reaching its peak this year on the night of December 13th and the early morning of December 14th. It can be observed from a completely dark location away from city lights.
