Expert Reveals Reason for Conflicts Within the Muslim Brotherhood

An expert in Islamic political movements has revealed the reasons behind conflicts within the Muslim Brotherhood and the divisions that have occurred within its ranks in recent periods.

Islam Al-Katatni stated during a televised interview on Extra News channel: “The conflicts within the Muslim Brotherhood are not about a cause, principle, or value. They are based on competition for seats and positions, which are the real goal for many who have joined the group.”

The expert added: “The Muslim Brotherhood, in these divisions and conflicts that we have seen since the June 30 revolution until now, are not experiencing this for the first time in the history of the group.”

He explained that the seeds of disagreements began with Ahmed Al-Sukkari, the true founder of the group, its deputy, and longtime companion of Hassan el-Banna, when he discovered that the latter was taking money collected for donations under the banner of the Palestinian cause.

Currently, the Muslim Brotherhood is going through one of its most difficult periods due to internal conflicts over leadership, positions, and the division of leadership positions and funds.

According to a report from The Economist magazine, a large segment of Muslim Brotherhood leaders in London, Istanbul, and Egypt are exchanging insults and accusations of corruption, theft, and collaboration with foreign intelligence agencies.
