The Brotherhood Plans to Drag Sudan into Civil War… Details

The Coordination of Civil Democratic Forces “Taqaddum” has warned of a scheme led by the Islamic movement affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood, aiming to transform the ongoing conflict in Sudan into a tribal and ethnic war, with the goal of fragmenting the country.

The “Taqaddum” coordination stated in a statement published on the website (Al-Rakubah) yesterday that the ongoing war in Sudan has become the worst humanitarian disaster in the world, and that the future could be even darker if regional and ethnic mobilization by the conflict parties continues.

It criticized the statement by the Sudanese army chief, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, regarding the arming of populations in the Al-Jazeera State to confront the Rapid Support Forces, describing it as a “dangerous statement” because it abandons the state’s duty to monopolize weapons and implicates civilians in a devastating war.

The statement added that “transforming the conflict into a tribal and ethnic war is a scheme of the Islamic movement and elements of the ousted regime. This is the policy they followed during their 30 years of rule, during which they armed the tribes and spread a discourse of hatred and racism, leading to the division of the country and the tearing apart of its social fabric.”

It continued: “They are now repeating the same scheme, exploiting public anger due to the war and the atrocities committed against civilians to achieve their destructive project, by infiltrating security and military apparatuses, manipulating community and tribal components, and using their media arms to fuel tribal and regional strife, threatening the cohesion and unity of the country.”

The statement noted that “the Islamic movement (Muslim Brotherhood) and elements of the ousted regime are employing the same criminal methods they previously used in South Sudan, Darfur, the Nuba Mountains, and Blue Nile during their regime, now spreading discord across all of Sudan without restraint or conscience.”

The “Taqaddum” coordination called on all Sudanese to confront regional and tribal tensions, to steer clear of racism and hate speech, and to prevent the transformation of the war into a conflict between social components. It also urged the rejection of arming that would lead to the destruction of Sudan’s future, turning it into a land controlled by gangs and warlords.

Last week, Sudanese army chief Abdel Fattah al-Burhan encouraged civil war during his visit to the Al-Batana region in the central part of the country, affirming his readiness to arm any tribe willing to fight the Rapid Support Forces.
