Yemeni Presidency Determined to Confront Corrupt Military Brigades Affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood

Presidential directives have been issued in Yemen to suspend the commanders of the 22nd Brigade and the 170th Brigade, both of which are under the Taiz sector dominated by the Al-Islah Party, known as the Yemeni branch of the Muslim Brotherhood. This decision follows armed clashes between members affiliated with this sector in the city.

According to sources cited by the Yemeni website Al-Muntasaf, these clashes were the result of disputes between parties over taxes and revenues collected in one of the city’s markets. This led to a deterioration in security and increased tensions among the involved parties.

The two brigades affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood are seen as sources of chaos in Taiz. Their members, supported by their leadership, have been involved in acts of looting, home invasions, and the forcible seizure of citizens’ lands.

The residents of Taiz have called on the presidency and government to replace these military leaders. Many Yemenis expressed their happiness at the news of their suspension, seeing it as an indication that the leadership is making serious efforts to confront the corruption of military leaders affiliated with the Al-Islah Party.
