The recent events on the Syrian coast continue to dominate the situation in the country, as the transitional administration pledges to hold accountable those responsible for the incidents of the past few days.
The Fact-Finding and Investigation Committee, appointed by the Syrian presidency to probe the deadly violence in the west of the country, has expressed its determination to ensure justice and to prevent extrajudicial retaliation, following an escalation that claimed the lives of over a thousand civilians, the majority of whom were Alawites, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

During a press conference in Damascus, the committee’s spokesperson, Yasser Al-Farhan, stated: “The new Syria is committed to establishing justice, upholding the rule of law, protecting the rights and freedoms of its citizens, preventing extrajudicial retaliation, and ensuring that impunity does not prevail.”
In the same context, the Syrian Ministry of Interior announced the arrest of four individuals involved in illegal and bloody abuses against civilians in a village on the coastal region.
According to the official Syrian News Agency (SANA), the suspects have been referred to the competent military judiciary to face legal proceedings.
