Al-Haddad is one of the top commanders of the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades.
He served as the commander of the Gaza City Brigade and is a member of al-Qassam’s inner military council.
In November 2023, Israel announced a $750,000 reward for information leading to his capture or death.
Israel accuses him of responsibility for countless attacks and has attempted to assassinate him on more than four occasions.

On January 17, his son Soheib was killed in an Israeli airstrike on the al-Tuffah neighborhood in northern Gaza.
