Sudan’s Muslim Brotherhood Wants Endless War… and the UAE in the Crosshairs of Lies

The head of Sudan’s National Umma Party, Mubarak Al-Fadil Al-Mahdi, has accused Sudan’s branch of the Muslim Brotherhood — known locally as the “Kizan” and led by Ali Karti — of attempting to undermine the strategic relationship between Sudan and the United Arab Emirates. He described the relationship as spanning over half a century and built on strong economic and developmental interests.

In a post published yesterday on the X platform, he stated that the “Kizan,” who have entrenched their influence within the power structures in Port Sudan, are working to prolong the war in the country in an effort to revive the authoritarian regime that was overthrown by the December revolution. He accused them of seeking to exploit the ongoing chaos to return to power.

The Umma Party leader stressed that the Brotherhood’s campaign against the UAE does not serve Sudan’s interests, but rather risks losing a pivotal partner in the country’s peace and reconstruction efforts. He added that the UAE plays a key role in putting an end to this senseless war and provides vital economic and humanitarian support to Sudan. “Engaging in dialogue with the UAE is a national necessity — not treason, as the Brotherhood claims,” he said.

Al-Fadil Al-Mahdi further clarified that his party’s stance on the war has remained consistent since last summer, and is based on three fundamental principles: safeguarding the Sudanese people and ending the humanitarian crisis, preserving the Sudanese state from collapse, and protecting the military institution from division and social disintegration.

These statements come amid escalating incitement from certain elements of the former regime and Sudan’s Islamic movement against regional countries, including the UAE. They expose the smear campaign that the “Kizan” are orchestrating against the UAE both domestically and internationally.
