Israel announces the killing of 20 militants in Gaza and the destruction of a rocket manufacturing site and a tunnel

The Israeli military announced on Sunday that its forces had continued their military operations over the past week east of what is known as the “Yellow Line” in the Gaza Strip, with the aim of disrupting the infrastructure of armed organizations.

In a statement, the Israeli army said that forces operating under the Southern Command had carried out a series of operations targeting military sites and infrastructure. It also reported that 20 militants had been killed, claiming that they had violated the ceasefire agreement.

Targeting a field commander

The military stated that among those killed was the deputy commander of a platoon from the “Nukhba” force, the elite unit of Hamas, in the area of Beit Lahia in the northern Gaza Strip.

According to the statement, the commander had participated in the October 7 attack and had been planning a sniper operation against Israeli military forces during the ceasefire period.

A rocket manufacturing site

As part of the operations, Israeli forces also announced that units from the 143rd Brigade of the Gaza Division had discovered a rocket manufacturing site belonging to the Islamic Jihad movement in the Khan Younis area.

The army stated that the site contained components used for manufacturing rockets, as well as equipment that Israel said the group uses to launch rockets toward Israeli territory.

Destruction of a tunnel in Rafah

The Israeli military also announced the destruction of an underground offensive tunnel in the Rafah area in the southern Gaza Strip.

It explained that the tunnel had been used by militants from armed organizations in the area to carry out operations against Israeli forces.

The military emphasized that its operations in the Gaza Strip are intended to prevent armed organizations from rebuilding their military capabilities or launching new attacks against Israel.
