Armed Attack: Two Syrian Army Soldiers Killed East of Aleppo

The Syrian Ministry of Defense announced on Saturday the death of two army soldiers in an attack carried out by unidentified armed individuals near the city of Manbij, northeast of Aleppo.

The Syrian Ministry of Defense did not provide further details regarding the circumstances of the attack or the identity of those responsible.

The incident is part of a series of attacks that have targeted Syrian army forces and security personnel over recent months in various parts of the country, resulting in deaths and injuries among their ranks.

On May 11, two Syrian army soldiers were killed and several others injured in an attack that the Syrian Ministry of Defense said was carried out by unidentified assailants against a personnel transport bus west of the Al-Aliya silos in the countryside of Al-Hasakah.

At the time, the Ministry of Defense’s Media and Communications Directorate explained that the attack targeted the bus while it was traveling through the area, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).

On March 17, two customs police officers were killed and two others wounded in an attack carried out by the Islamic State organization against one of their patrols in the Al-Safira area of the Aleppo countryside while it was performing its duties.

Earlier, on March 7, a member of the Syrian army was killed by gunfire from unidentified individuals near the town of Al-Sahara in the Aleppo countryside.
