300 Afghan refugees infected with Coronavirus in Qatari facilities

Following the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan and waves of mass flight of Afghan civilians out of the country, fearing the oppression of the terrorist movement, several countries, including Qatar, promised to receive, protect and welcome the displaced, especially after official statements made by Doha officials on the discussion of the status of refugees and providing a mechanism for their transfer.

A special source told ”the workers rights” website from inside Qatar that Afghans in the camp in Doha suffer from poor health conditions and a lack of attention to patients, noting that an increase in cases of flu and high temperatures was observed, which necessitated coronavirus tests and showed that more than 300 people were infected due to the lack of masks and insufficient distances between those present.

The website said: “Instead of providing safer facilities for these people, officials neglect of refugees has caused chaos, and nearly 300 Afghan refugees have been infected with Coronavirus after being pushed into small facilities.”

Many reports, according to the website, reveal that although Qataris are well aware of the situation, they do not care about the infection rates and do not care about the Afghan refugees, stressing that the health conditions of the refugees are deteriorating further and the Gulf Emirate is not taking any initiative to treat these people.

“On Thursday, a local news agency released a video of an Afghan refugee camp in Qatar, showing their plight there, where they complained there was no air-conditioning system and one refugee said in the video that there was only one toilet and bathroom in the camp.”

Through its Twitter page, the Afghan agency posted videos exposing the inhumane suffering, commenting on the plight of Afghan refugees in the Qatar refugee camp.
