Arab League calls for classifying the Houthi group as a terrorist organization

Member states of the Arab League have called for classifying the Houthi group as a terrorist organization after its attacks with missiles and drones on the UAE.

A resolution was issued at the end of the emergency meeting of the Arab League Council to discuss the terrorist incidents that the United Arab Emirates was subjected to today, Sunday, under the chairmanship of Kuwait, where it demanded all countries to classify Houthi as a terrorist organization.

The resolution strongly condemned the vicious and heinous terrorist attack on civilians and civilian targets by the Houthi terrorist militia with three cruise missiles on the area of Musaffah ICAD 3 and the new construction area at Abu Dhabi International Airport.

The January 17th attack led to the explosion of three fuel tankers, killing three people and wounding six innocent civilians.

The Council welcomed the solidarity of countries and regional and international organizations with the UAE and condemned the attacks perpetrated by Houthi militias against civilian areas and facilities as a cowardly and sinful terrorist attack.

The Council welcomed the unified position expressed by the United Nations Security Council in its recent statement, in which the members of the Council condemned in the strongest terms the heinous terrorist attacks perpetrated by the Houthi militia.

“These terrorist attacks by Houthi militias are a flagrant violation of international law and international humanitarian law, and a real threat to vital civilian installations, energy supplies and the stability of the global economy”, it said.

It also constitutes a threat to regional peace and security, undermines Arab national security, damages international peace and security and poses a threat to international commercial shipping routes.

It stressed that the terrorist attacks carried out by the Houthis reflect their terrorist nature and reveal their real objectives to destabilize the security and stability of the region and defy the rules of international and humanitarian law.

The decision stressed absolute solidarity with the UAE and standing by it and supporting it in all the measures it takes to defend its security, the security of its people and those residing on its land, and its national interests and capabilities.

He also affirmed his support for the right of the United Arab Emirates to self-defense and to retaliate against aggression under international law, appreciating the State’s commitment to abide by international law and to respect and comply with the relevant United Nations resolutions.

The Arab League Council called on the United Nations and the UN Security Council to shoulder their responsibilities and take a decisive and unified stance against the Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia and the UAE to deter and confront the ongoing atrocities committed by the Houthi militias against civilians and their deliberate obstruction of the delivery of humanitarian aid and supplies and the confiscation of food.
