Britain tells citizens to leave Afghanistan immediately
Britain has warned all its citizens in Afghanistan to leave immediately because of the “deteriorating security situation” there as fighting between the Taleban and government forces intensifies.
The British Foreign and Commonwealth Office updated its website on Afghanistan to advise against all travel there.
She also appealed to all British nationals in Afghanistan to leave, saying: “If you are still in Afghanistan, we advise you to leave now by commercial means because of the deteriorating security situation.”
The ministry warned against relying on them for emergency evacuations, saying that the assistance they could provide was “extremely limited”.
Fighting in Afghanistan has intensified since May, when US forces began the final phase of their withdrawal, which is scheduled to be completed later this month.
The British Foreign Office said: “Terrorists are very likely to try to carry out attacks in Afghanistan using special sophisticated and complex methods of attack.”
