Egypt is heading an emergency Arab League assembly on Palestine with Arab foreign ministers
On Monday, Egypt would direct an emergency Arab League gathering with Arab foreign ministers for talking about regional unity and protecting the rights of Palestinians. The gathering would concentrate on stimulating the Israeli-Palestinian peace process and discussing the United States’ policies on Palestine.
In fact, under the Donald Trump administration, the relationship between the US and Palestine stressed after that Washington agreed Israel’s plans to annex large parts of occupied West Bank territories.
Moreover, UN experts had declared that the step is a 21st-century apartheid vision. They also said that the annexation would be a serious violation of the United Nations charter and the Geneva Conventions, and would just increase human rights violations in the West Bank.
On his part, the Assistant Secretary-General of the Arab League Hossam Zaki said that the emergency gathering is being held at Egypt and Jordan’s demand, and added that it would focus on the fundamentals related to the Palestinian cause and Arab unity.
It’s expected that the Arab foreign ministers would discuss the positive results of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Summit held in Saudi Arabia’s al-Ula in December and its consequences for the Middle East peace procedure.
