Erdogan’s cronies takes over the government tenders


A news report exposes one of the manifestations of corruption within Turkey’s ruling Justice and Development System, with the blessing of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Opposition daily Bergon said businessman Fouad Tusalli, a close ally of Turkish President Erdogan and a member of the Board of Directors of the Turkish Wealth Fund, is the hero of the corruption scandal.

Investigations published by the newspaper revealed that a company owned by Tusalli acquired government tenders more than 1 billion Turkish pounds between 2012 and 2021. The Turkish Company for Pipelines and Oil Transport, which is part of the Ministry of Energy, awarded most of the bids to Tusalli companies.

Investigations revealed that Tusalli supervises a group of companies that managed to obtain a total of 43 separate tenders between 2012 and 2021, pointing out that the companies obtained 19 separate tenders from the State in a period of 6 years between 2016 and 2021, for a total amount of 942 million pounds, of which 11 were awarded to the State-owned company BOTAŞ, in addition to 7 other tenders by the General Directorate of State Hydraulic Works and 1 tender by the General Directorate of the Turkish Petroleum Corporation.

The Turkish judiciary has reportedly decided to censor an article on « Stop Youth Turkey », an institution whose main founder is « Bilal » President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s son, amid a major financial corruption scandal.

The paper also cited Muhammed Genghiz, a billionaire and close ally of President Erdogan, and the founder of Genghis Holding, which received most public tenders than any firm.

His company is famous for overseeing large-scale infrastructure and construction projects for millions of dollars.
