Friendly match between Watford and Qatar provokes fans anger
England’s Watford fans and human rights activists have criticized the club’s management for agreeing to a friendly match with the Qatari team in preparation for the 2022 World Cup later this year. Watford will face the Qatari team next month during a week-long stay at a training camp in Austria.

According to the British Mirror, Qatar controversially won the rights to host the 2010 World Cup for the first time ever. The championship will be held in the winter from November 21st to December 18th. The newspaper mentioned in its report that Qatar faces a long list of accusations regarding human rights violations, which provoked the anger of the Watford masses from agreeing to hold such a match, where they said in a joint statement: Watford ladies and human rights activists are very disappoainted that Watford will be playing with the Qatari team in its training camp, and we urge our team to show its support for all human rights and women’s rights in the game and we will discuss this matter directly with the club.
Qatari violations
According to the newspaper, the FIFA World Cup, which will be held at the end of this year, is the first time that Qatar will participate in the World Cup finals. The group includes Ecuador, the Netherlands and Senegal.
Watford, who dropped out of the English Premier League last season, starts its journey again in the second division with a home game against Sheffield United on August 1. It is scheduled to face the Qatar national team and Watford in a friendly match in preparation for the coming season.
According to the newspaper, Qatar could face a huge international campaign during the tournament to donate to the families of the World Cup victims, thousands of workers who lost their lives as a result of working under inhumane conditions in Qatar.
