Goodwill Messengers: UAE scrambles to save victims of Pakistan’s devastating floods

UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has ordered the provision of urgent relief aid to Pakistan, where several provinces are experiencing floods, floods, deaths and injuries, and displacements from these areas, according to the Emirates News Agency (WAM). History of support

Relations between the UAE and Pakistan have a history of giving to the UAE. More than half a billion doses of polio vaccination have been provided by the UAE over the past eight years, benefiting 102 million children there. Since 2011, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed has provided $250 million in humanitarian and charitable efforts to provide vaccines and finance polio vaccination campaigns, especially in the targeted countries, namely Pakistan and Afghanistan.

The UAE’s support initiatives for the situation in Pakistan are part of the country’s humanitarian approach, in collaboration with international organizations and institutions to develop human development programs, curb the spread of epidemics and prevent diseases, and provide humanitarian and health assistance to needy and poor communities and peoples.

Flood disaster

On Friday, Pakistan declared a national emergency after the death toll from floods rose to 937. The Pakistani government called on the army to help the civil administration in the relief and rescue operations after millions of people were displaced and thousands of houses were damaged by the floods. For his part, Pakistani President Arif Alvi appealed on Friday to the entire nation, Pakistanis abroad and the international community to support the flood victims who were in dire need of rescue, relief and rehabilitation as unprecedented rains and floods destroyed lives and livelihoods across Pakistan.
