Photos Document the Massive Destruction in a Wealthy Los Angeles Neighborhood Due to Wildfires
Several photos released by Reuters have captured the devastating aftermath of wildfires that engulfed the affluent Pacific Palisades neighborhood in Los Angeles, California.
A widely circulated image on social media illustrates the extensive destruction caused by the fires in this well-known, affluent area.
Social media users also shared a photo of Pacific Palisades, located northwest of the famous Santa Monica area in California.
An aerial drone shot revealed the neighborhood, with its elegant homes and trees, reduced to nothing but ashes, resembling war-torn devastation.
The fires initially started in the affluent neighborhood itself, sparked by strong windstorms that ignited flames in Pacific Palisades. Thousands were forced to evacuate quickly before the fire consumed the area.
At least five major wildfires have scorched around 28,000 acres of land, destroyed nearly 1,900 buildings, claimed the lives of 5 people, and threatened iconic landmarks in California.
The wildfires have triggered a national political crisis. President-elect Donald Trump blamed the Democrats for the fires, asserting that their “failed policies contributed to catastrophic spread,” and called for the resignation of California’s governor.
His ally, businessman Elon Musk, also called for the removal of California’s Democratic governor, Gavin Newsom, over the issue.
Meanwhile, Donald Trump Jr. linked the spread of the California wildfires to the transfer of firefighting equipment from Los Angeles to Ukraine, following a tweet by the Los Angeles Fire Department announcing its donation of some equipment to Ukraine.
