The United Arab Emirates launches ‘Gallant Knight 3′ Operation to aid Gaza
Amid the challenging humanitarian conditions faced by the Palestinians, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the United Arab Emirates, instructed the Joint Operations at the Ministry of Defense to commence the ‘Gallant Knight 3′ humanitarian operation to support the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.
Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan also directed the leadership of the Joint Operations to cooperate and coordinate comprehensively with the UAE Red Crescent Authority, the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation for Humanitarian Work, the Zayed bin Sultan Foundation for Charitable and Humanitarian Works, and other humanitarian and charitable institutions in the United Arab Emirates to provide humanitarian support to the Palestinian people in Gaza. According to the Emirates News Agency (WAM), the President of the UAE called for the voluntary participation of doctors registered with the Ministry of Health and the Abu Dhabi Health Department, in addition to opening the door for volunteering for those registered with the Red Crescent and UAE humanitarian and charitable institutions.
Last Wednesday, the UAE’s President discussed with the Jordanian monarch, King Abdullah II, efforts to deliver relief and humanitarian assistance to the residents of the Gaza Strip and decided to treat 1,000 Palestinian children in UAE hospitals along with their families.
On October 10th, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President of the UAE, the Prime Minister, and the Ruler of Dubai, directed the provision of urgent aid to the Palestinians in the amount of 50 million dirhams through the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, in light of the challenging humanitarian conditions faced by the Palestinians.
The UAE also sent a plane carrying urgent medical aid to El-Arish city in Egypt to be transported to Gaza through the Rafah Crossing, in order to provide relief support to the Palestinian people.
On October 22nd, the UAE announced the preparation of 550 tons of relief materials as part of the ‘Compassion for Gaza‘ campaign in its second week, with the participation of more than 10,000 volunteers, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
