Turkey is testing Russian-made S-400 defense systems

According to a local video taken by Reuters, a missile was shot into the sky on Friday on Turkey’s Black Sea coast while the military was expected to check its Russian-made S-400 defense systems.

The video that was taken in the coastal city of Sinop, revealed a fine column of smoke directed into the blue sky. Indeed, Turkey had published notifications in recent days about limiting air space and waters off the coastal area to let firing tests.

If tests of the S-400s are verified, that could incite tensions between Turkey and the United States that highly oppose Ankara’s purchase of the weapons from Moscow because they expose the NATO defense systems to risk.

Last year, Washington responded by interrupting Turkey from its F-35 jet program and has threatened to impose sanctions.
