Arab and international condemnation of Houthi attack targeting Abu Dhabi


Wide Arab and international condemnation against the terrorist attack committed by the Houthi militia against Abou Dabi using booby-trapped drones, yesterday, Monday.

For its part, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia affirmed its full support for the United Arab Emirates in the face of all threats to its security and stability.

In a statement issued by the Foreign Ministry, the Kingdom noted that this terrorist act perpetrated by the forces of evil and the Houthi terrorist militia confirms the danger of this terrorist group and its threat to security, peace and stability in the region and the world.
‎The Kingdom also affirmed its continued support for all terrorist attempts and practices by the Houthis through its command of coalition forces to support legitimacy in Yemen.

Meanwhile, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Choukri expressed, in a telephone conversation with his UAE counterpart, yesterday (Monday), Egypt’s full solidarity, with the United Arab Emirates as a result of this incident, its condolences for the loss of life, and its wishes for a speedy recovery for the injured.

“Egypt condemns any terrorist act committed by Houthi militias to target the security, stability and safety of the United Arab Emirates, and supports all measures taken by the UAE to deal with any terrorist act that targets it”, he said.

The Kingdom of Bahrain also strongly condemned “the launching of a number of booby-trapped drones by the Houthi terrorist militia in the direction of the Emirate of Abou Dabi”, affirming in an official statement that this attack “is a cowardly terrorist attack in violation of international humanitarian law and all international laws, and a flagrant attack on the sovereignty of the United Arab Emirates”.

The Kingdom of Bahrain considered that this bloody attack “proves the determination of these terrorist Houthi militias to continue their cowardly criminal attacks”.
In a statement, the Bahraini Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed “Bahrain’s condemnation of this vicious Houthi attack” and “its support for the UAE and all measures it will take to confront these cowardly acts of sabotage”.

The Bahraini Foreign Ministry called on the international community to “take firm steps against these militias, whose criminal acts confirm they are a terrorist organization that poses a serious threat to the security and stability of the region”.

Jordan’s Foreign Ministry also “strongly condemned and denounced this cowardly terrorist attack”. Jordanian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ambassador Haitham Abu al-Foul stressed “Jordan’s solidarity and its absolute support for the United Arab Emirates, expressing sincere condolences to the families of the victims and wishes for a speedy recovery for the injured”.

The Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry said in a statement today: “The continued targeting of civilians and civilian areas by Houthi militias, their insistence on violating the rules of international humanitarian law and their intention to harm the security and stability of the countries of the region underscore the seriousness of the behavior of these militias and the need for the international community, especially the Security Council, to act to put an end to this aggressive behavior and to maintain international peace and security”.

“The State of Kuwait stands by its brotherly United Arab Emirates and supports it in all steps it takes to preserve its security and stability”, it said.

Sultanate of Oman

The Omani Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the Sultanate’s solidarity with the United Arab Emirates and its support for its measures to preserve its security and stability.
The sultanate condemned the attack on the UAE capital Abou Dabi and reiterated Oman’s firm stance in rejecting violence and targeting civilians.

Lebanon: We stand in solidarity with the UAE against any attack

The Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants condemned the attack on Abou Dabi, affirming “its solidarity with the UAE people and government in the face of any attack on its sovereignty, security and stability”.

GCC Secretary-General Nayef Falah Mubarak Al-Hajraf also condemned “the cowardly terrorist attack that targeted Abou Dabi International Airport”, stressing that “the attack launched by the Houthi militias is a cowardly terrorist attack and a war crime that endangers the lives of civilians”.
Al-Hajraf said terrorism “requires holding terrorists accountable in accordance with international and humanitarian law”, adding that “the GCC stands in solidarity with the UAE and supports it in all measures taken to defend its territory and preserve its security and the safety of its citizens and residents”.

The United States also pledged to hold accountable the Iranian-backed Houthi terrorist militia, especially after the Houthis claimed responsibility for the deadly attack on Abou Dabi International Airport and the nearby industrial zone.

“The United States strongly condemns today’s terrorist attack in Abou Dabi, UAE, which killed three innocent civilians”, said Jake Sullivan, the president’s national security adviser.

In a statement, Sullivan added: “The Houthis have claimed responsibility for the attack and we will work with the UAE and our international partners to hold them accountable”, he said, stressing his country’s commitment to the security of the UAE. That commitment is “firm, and we stand with our Emirati partners against all threats to their territory”.

UN Secretary-General António Guterres condemned the Houthis’ attack on Abou Dabi International Airport and its industrial neighborhood.

According to his spokesperson, UN Secretary-General Stéphane Dujarric, called on the Houthis to “prevent any escalation in the context of increasing tensions in the region”, recalling that “attacks against civilians or civilian infrastructure are prohibited under international humanitarian law”.

French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said: “We condemn the attack on civilian facilities in the UAE and consider it a threat to the stability of the region”.

The EU said in a statement that it “condemns the attack by Houthi militias on civilian targets in the UAE”.
