Two Fronts, Slogans and Guides: Facts confirm the collapse of the Muslim Brotherhood movement

Over the coming days, the Brotherhood will be celebrating its 94th anniversary, but this year’s celebration comes amid difficult circumstances after it split into two fronts – the Istanbul Front led by Mahmoud Hussein and the London Front led by Ibrahim Munir.

The crisis began to hit the organization with violence following the arrest of Mahmoud Ezzat, the former acting leader of the Islamic Action Front. It reached an advanced level when Ibrahim Munir, who succeeded Ezzat in his duties, announced what he described as reformist steps, after Mahmoud Hussein was removed from his position as the general secretary of the organization, and the formation of a committee to manage the group, which serves as a guidance bureau.

In September, after Munir’s group held internal elections and produced a new committee to run the group, the Istanbul Group, led by Hussein, revolted. They began to call on the Shura Council to remove Munir, through a paper that included a proposal to dismiss him on the grounds that his actions were dangerous for the organization, after he moved all levels of administration to London.

Hussein’s front responded with the recent decision to remove Munir from all his positions, saying they had called for the Shura Council and issued the decision to dismiss him in a legal manner.

The Istanbul Front accused Ibrahim Munir of involvement in a seven-year plan to divide the group and alienate and marginalize Turkey’s leadership. The London Front responded by denying the charge and pointing to the August 30, 2020 decision of the General Shura Council to appoint Munir as acting leader following the arrest of Egyptian authorities Mahmoud Ezzat.

It also accuses him of going beyond his powers, attacking the Shura Council and referring leaders of the Brotherhood to investigation, which led them to isolate him.

The London Front, led by Munir, believes that the leaders of the group in Istanbul rebelled against the resolutions, which led to their being referred for investigation as being out of line. Events were then exacerbated by the removal of Munir from his position as acting leader, and the appointment of Mustafa Tolba in his place, which indicates that the hour of the end of the terrorist organization has arrived.

The scenes confirm the imminent collapse of the Muslim Brotherhood, as young people wish to get rid of both fronts, which could affect the future of the organization, given the restrictions it faces abroad.
