Poll shows AKP’s popularity hits all-time low


Following Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s statements about the Justice and Development Party’s (AKP) supremacy in the last elections in Ankara and Istanbul, and its failure to defeat opposition parties despite losing the position of mayor in the two cities, Turkish media re-published the results of the opinion polls conducted by the Turkish ORC research institution, showing a decline in the results of the popular support for the ruling party over the course of a year, according to Turkish newspaper Zaman.

The results revealed how the AKP’s voting rate fell over the course of a year, with the approval rate dropping month after month.

The results show that while the AKP’s voting rate was 36.8% in February 2021, it dropped to 28.1% in March 2022.

The AKP’s support over the months has been credited in this way: 36.8% in February 2021, 33.4% in June 2021, 32.1% last September, and 31.9% in the following month.

In November of last year, the support rate for the ruling party registered 30.9%, 29.7% in January of 2022, 30% in February of 2022, and 28.1% in March of 2022.
