Yemen.. When will Houthi’s crimes stop in Taiz?.. Experts answer
For years, the people of Taiz have suffered from Houthi crimes and violations against everyone amid unjustified international silence. Although the Houthi-backed plans threaten the stability of the region as a whole and global maritime navigation, the international community continues to take a position of watch, despite the repeated commission of the most heinous crimes and the targeting of peaceful citizens in Yemen, especially in the Taiz region.
Violations and crimes
The Geneva-based SAM Organization for Rights and Freedoms has revealed that dozens of civilians have been killed and injured in the besieged city of Taiz, in south-western Yemen, by Houthi militia gunfire since the beginning of the UN truce in Yemen. The human rights organization has reported that it “has monitored 80 cases of human rights violations committed by the Houthi group against civilians in Taiz province since the truce came into effect on April 2nd,” warning of the danger of the collapse of the humanitarian truce in Yemen, as the Houthi militia continues to target civilians, especially in Taiz, which has been under a suffocating siege for nearly seven years. The report said that the organization “documented the death of 15 civilians, including 7 children and women, and 69 wounded, including 28 children, from bombardments and bombings in Houthi areas Noting that most of the victims were killed by Houthi sniper attacks against civilians in Taiz city, the report – which addressed “the challenges of the truce in Yemen and the reasons for its inability to break the siege of Taiz” – noted that six houses were damaged by Houthi shelling residential neighborhoods with mortars and anti-aircraft fire. The report also addressed the impact of the siege on the movement of civilians and the dispersal of families.
International silence
Houthi’s violations and crimes have not stopped in many areas, said Yemeni political analyst Wadah bin Attiya. This reveals many facts that are missing from the crimes committed by the terrorist militia to target citizens and destabilize Yemen amid great international silence over these crimes and violations, he said.
The Yemeni political analyst added that the Houthi terrorist militia targets children and women, in order to control various regions, including the south, to achieve and implement their absurd plans. He pointed out that the Yemeni people will eliminate what the Houthi militia seeks in Yemen and the region, stressing the need for the international community to rise up and support civilians in breaking free from the Houthi grip.
Ignore human rights reports
Yemeni human rights activist Ahmed Jabbari said that there are numerous international and Arab human rights reports condemning and exposing many of Houthi’s crimes in Yemen. He pointed out that these reports did not take any international stance towards this terrorist group and its mass crimes against the security and stability of Yemen.
The Yemeni human rights activist added that a serious international stance must be taken against the Houthi militia in order to stop these violations that target Yemen’s stability and unity. In addition, these crimes target the safety of civilians who are targeted by the terrorist group in Yemen under Iranian auspices. A humanitarian truce that entered into force on April 2 and was renewed twice for two months in Yemen. The recognized government and the Arab coalition have fulfilled its terms, including the ceasefire resolution and military operations, while Houthi militias have failed to implement their pledges, including opening a lifeline to the city of Taiz.
