After the decision of the defense council; A message from the Yemeni president for relief organizations

Yemen’s Presidential Council has sent a letter of reassurance to aid organizations and agencies that humanitarian activity has been neutralized following the decision to classify Houthi as a terrorist organization.

According to the official news agency Saba, the council said that implementing procedures and mechanisms to classify Houthi militias as a terrorist organization would take into account and neutralize relief organizations and agencies and humanitarian activity.

Earlier this week, Yemen’s National Defense Council announced the inclusion of Houthi militias on terrorism lists and warned individuals and entities not to deal with them, in accordance with the penal code, the Arab Convention for the Suppression of Terrorism and international and regional conventions and treaties.

The Presidential Council held a meeting Tuesday under the chairmanship of President Rashad al-Alimi and members of the Council, in the presence of the Yemeni Minister of Defense and the Yemeni Army Staff, to discuss developments in the domestic situation and the escalation of terrorist militias.

During the meeting, the Council heard reports on “the repercussions of the threats of the Houthi terrorist militia, and the options to deal with them to protect the interests of the Yemeni people, the global energy supply and the freedom of international navigation.”

The Presidential Council stressed “the importance of mobilizing all capacities and capabilities to strengthen the state’s presence and unity, and to respond to the broad popular rallying around efforts to end the coup of terrorist militias and achieve security and stability in the country.”

The Presidential Council praised “the honorable positions of the Saudi Arabia and UAE-led Coalition to Support Legitimacy, as well as the condemnation and broad Arab and international condemnation of the attacks and assaults of the Houthi terrorist militia and its Iranian backers, and their catastrophic repercussions on international peace and security.”
