Opening of Expo 2023 Doha Horticulture Exhibition
Qatar’s Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, sponsored the opening of the Expo 2023 Doha Horticulture Exhibition on Monday evening, under the slogan “Green Desert… Better Environment.”
The opening ceremony was attended by the Crown Prince of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Prime Minister of Iraq, Mohammed Shia’ Al-Sudani, the Prime Minister of Yemen, Maeen Abdulmalik, the President of Djibouti, Ismaïl Omar Guelleh, the President of Tanzania, Samia Suluhu Hassan, the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and the Prime Minister of Rwanda, Édouard Ngirente.
Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, delivered a speech at the celebration held in the Al Bida Park in Doha.
He stated that Qatar’s hosting of the Expo 2023 Doha Horticulture Exhibition aligns with its commitments to sustainable development, both nationally and internationally, as reported by the Qatar News Agency.
added that the event “constitutes a qualitative addition to the diverse initiatives undertaken by Qatar to ensure a safer and more stable future for all the people of the world.”
noted that “these initiatives are in line with the directives of the Emir of Qatar, within the framework of achieving a balance between the country’s developmental needs and the responsible preservation of its natural resources, on land, sea, and air. This aligns with its National Vision 2030, one of its pillars being the development of a comprehensive environmental vision that prioritizes the preservation of the environment for future generations.”
The Qatari Prime Minister stated, “At a time when humanity is suffering from many unfortunate disasters and catastrophes resulting from our lack of respect for our planet and irresponsible exploitation of nature, we look forward through this global exhibition to serious initiatives and partnerships that restore hope to us and future generations in a world filled with secure lives for all its inhabitants, without discrimination or preference.”
He renewed the call for more environmentally-friendly solutions and innovative approaches in all aspects of life, adopting a realistic approach that addresses comprehensive economic development, environmental protection, and, at the same time, ensures fair energy security for all.
He also called for “intensified international cooperation to achieve a balanced environmental world characterized by respect, human respect for their fellow humans, and sustainable respect for the environment and nature.”
