Major traffic accident in America due to thick fog claims 7 lives

Seven people lost their lives in the state of Louisiana, USA, in a massive traffic accident caused by thick fog that covered the area and resulted in a collision involving more than 156 vehicles.

The Louisiana State Police, in the southern United States, stated in a post on Facebook on Monday evening “preliminary investigations indicate that at least 156 vehicles were involved in the accident that occurred this morning.”

In their post, the police added, “7 people have been confirmed dead, and the accident has also resulted in more than 25 injuries,” warning that this toll could rise.

The post mentioned “more than 25 people have been transported to nearby hospitals to receive treatment for injuries ranging from minor to severe.”

Extremely thick fog blanketed the skies of the state of Louisiana in the early hours of Monday, significantly reducing visibility for drivers and leading to the collision of these vehicles.

This phenomenon, known as “super fog,” is a result of morning fog mixing with smoke rising from swamp vegetation fires in the area, according to the US National Weather Service.
