Yemen’s Muslim Brotherhood Celebrations of Gaza Ceasefire Agreement Spark Ridicule… New Meeting with the Houthis
The celebrations by Yemen’s Al-Islah Party (the Muslim Brotherhood‘s branch in Yemen) of what they called the “victory of Gaza” following the signing of the ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israel have sparked a wave of ridicule and criticism on social media.
Activists questioned the party’s actual role in supporting Gaza or the Palestinian cause in general, considering these celebrations as an attempt to politically exploit regional events without providing tangible support on the ground. They recalled accusations against the Muslim Brotherhood for exploiting the Palestinian cause to collect funds and finance their own projects in Yemen, according to Mokha agency.
Critics pointed out that Al-Islah, accused of being consumed by local conflicts and failing to address Yemen’s political and economic crises, seeks to portray itself as a defender of major national causes, despite lacking any evidence of actual support for Palestinians.

Some commentators described this move as a “hollow political display,” asserting that the Palestinian cause requires genuine support instead of slogans and celebratory gestures.
These criticisms come at a time when the party is facing a growing decline in popularity, presenting significant political challenges domestically.
In a separate context, Yemen’s capital witnessed a new meeting yesterday between leaders of the terrorist Houthi militias and representatives of Al-Islah, the Muslim Brotherhood‘s branch in Yemen.

The meeting followed a revelation by Abdul Qader Al-Murtada, head of the Prisoners’ Committee in Sanaa’s delegation, that Sanaa had permitted local mediators to visit detention areas for prisoners. He expressed hope that Al-Islah would likewise allow visits to its detention centers in Marib.
This visit followed the announcement of a new agreement between the two parties, including a prisoner exchange between Marib and Sanaa.
