The guitar, a Gibson Les Paul “Oxblood,” appeared on the cover of Jeff Beck’s solo album, “Blow by Blow”, in 1975 and was used by the musician, who passed away early in 2023, during several concerts.
This guitar had been estimated at between £350,000 and £500,000 ($444,000–$535,000), according to the auction house Christie’s, which organized the event.
Among the standout items in the auction was also a Fender electric guitar from 1990, which served as Jeff Beck’s main instrument between 1999 and 2014. It sold for £1 million, despite being initially valued between £20,000 and £30,000.

Amelia Walker, an expert in private collections and iconic items at Christie’s in London, stated in a press release that the auction was “a tribute to the legacy of a genius and a true rock legend, respected worldwide.”
Sandra Beck, the late musician’s widow, expressed her happiness that “Jeff’s guitars were so warmly appreciated by his fans and friends.”
The auction included more than 130 items in total, comprising guitars and amplifiers used by Jeff Beck “throughout his nearly six-decade-long career,” according to Christie’s.

Born in June 1944 in the suburbs of London, Jeff Beck is regarded as one of the greatest guitarists, known for his ability to transition seamlessly between musical genres (rock, hard rock, blues, jazz).

The duo became a musical sensation with iconic albums and songs such as “Shapes of Things” and “Over Under Sideways Down”.

Jeff Beck’s final tour took place in 2022.
The musician, who passed away in January 2023 at the age of 78, won eight Grammy Awards for his brilliance and innovation in electric guitar performance.
Before the auction, Sandra Beck had expressed sadness at parting with these instruments, saying it “deeply breaks the heart,” but that they should “be shared, played, and loved again.”
