Earlier today, the Jordanian General Intelligence Directorate announced in a statement that it had thwarted plans “aimed at undermining national security,” which included “the manufacturing of missiles and the possession of explosive materials,” confirming the arrest of 16 individuals involved.
According to the statement, these plans sought to endanger national security, cause chaos, and commit acts of sabotage. The agency stated that it had been monitoring the conspiracies since 2021.
The schemes included the manufacturing of missiles using locally-made tools and others imported illegally, the possession of explosive materials and firearms, and the concealment of a missile ready for use.

They also included a project to build drones, as well as the recruitment and training of individuals within the kingdom and sending them abroad for further instruction.
The detainees have been referred to the State Security Court, according to the statement.
Meanwhile, Jordanian television aired a video report on Tuesday evening about a cell working on missile manufacturing within the kingdom. The cell had begun its activities in 2021, and its members were arrested by the General Intelligence Directorate last February.
According to the official Petra News Agency, the report stated that the cell, involved in dark schemes targeting national security, consisted of three main members.

They began their plans after a leading figure, Ibrahim Mohammed, proposed the idea of manufacturing missiles in Jordan illegally.
According to the suspects’ confessions, Ibrahim, affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood, is the main accused currently on trial before the State Security Court in another case involving the transport and storage of nearly 30 kg of highly explosive materials (TNT, C4, and SEMTEX-H).
The report indicated that Ibrahim arranged for two members of the weapons manufacturing cell—Abdullah Hisham and Moaz Al-Ghanem—to travel to Lebanon, where they were to connect with the organization’s coordinator in Beirut for planning and training, while the third member, Mohsen Al-Ghanem, was tasked with transferring funds from abroad.

The cell operated from two provinces, having established a factory in Zarqa and a storage facility in the capital governorate (Naqira), and began acquiring the necessary tools, both locally and illegally imported machines.
The report noted that the storage site was used to keep raw materials, prototypes, and to assemble the parts of improvised missiles. These were hidden in a secret room with a disguised cement door, behind which lay a concealed area for storing the missiles.
At the homes of the suspects, metallic parts were found, shaped as tubes, cones, and other geometric forms.

The report explained that when assembled, these parts formed structures of short-range missiles, modeled after the Grad missile, and were waiting for explosives, propulsion systems, and impact detonators to be added.
It confirmed that the seized tools and equipment could have produced 300 similar missiles, with an estimated range of 3 to 5 kilometers, thereby posing a threat to targets inside the kingdom.
According to the same source, the report emphasized that the cell’s activities had been under continuous surveillance by the security services, who operated patiently and discreetly until the full picture emerged. The moment the first missile prototype was completed marked the zero hour for their arrest.
The report included footage of the sites used for the illicit activities, the tools used in missile manufacturing, and clips from the cell members’ confessions, revealing their movements and operations inside and outside the kingdom.
