Among them senior leaders… 60 terrorists killed in clashes with the Somali army

Somali Defense Minister Ahmed Moalim Fiqi announced that the armed forces, in coordination with local defense units, dealt a heavy blow to terrorist militias during fierce clashes in the town of “El-Tir” in Galguduud province.
According to the minister’s statement, reported by the Somali National News Agency “Sona,” the battles left more than 60 militants dead, including two prominent commanders known as “Dado Allah” and “Saber.”
He added that over 50 other fighters sustained varying degrees of injuries, while the national army successfully intercepted a car bomb before it reached its intended target. At the same time, aircraft from allied nations carried out an airstrike against retreating militants, further compounding their human and logistical losses.
Fiqi stressed that Somali forces had been on full alert since the early hours of Friday, enabling them to foil the militias’ plans and thwart the attack. He underlined that the operation represents a significant blow to the terrorist organization seeking to undermine security in liberated areas.
During the confrontations, six national army soldiers were killed and 14 others wounded. Meanwhile, the forces managed to capture several fighters, including senior figures involved in atrocities against civilians.
Ongoing operations in Galguduud
This operation comes only days after another military campaign on September 6, in which 12 terrorist militants were killed and 13 injured in the “El-Tiqouini” area of Galguduud province, when a militant base sheltering over 40 fighters preparing terrorist attacks was targeted.
The Ministry of Defense confirmed that these recent operations are part of a comprehensive strategy to consolidate security and stability in liberated regions, while relentlessly pursuing remnants of the terrorist militias attempting to regain a foothold in central Somalia.
