Houthis Target Aden Airport for Third Time in a Month as Escalation Threatens Civilian Lifeline

A powerful explosion rocked Yemen’s interim capital, Aden, on Wednesday after a Houthi missile attack targeted its international airport, the third strike on the facility this month.

Yemeni sources said that a ballistic missile fired by Houthi militias struck Aden International Airport, triggering a powerful explosion and sending thick columns of smoke into the air.

The sources said the missile targeted the airport’s runway in an attempt to disrupt air traffic at the civilian facility.

Last Friday, Houthi militias also struck Aden International Airport with ballistic missiles, in what the article describes as a systematic campaign of terror targeting vital infrastructure and civilian facilities.

Earlier in October, the militias launched another ballistic missile attack on the airport. Observers regard these attacks as violations of international humanitarian law.

Houthi militias have sharply intensified their missile attacks alongside a military escalation and incursions into new areas in Taiz, Lahj and along the western coast.
