First in Jordan: Successful Kidney Transplant without Matching Blood Types of Patient and Donor
An Jordanian medical team has achieved a unique medical milestone within the kingdom by performing a kidney transplant without matching the blood types of the patient and the donor.
The surgical procedure took place at Prince Hamzah Hospital in the capital, Amman, and it saved the life of the child Mohammed, who holds Algerian citizenship.
The young patient suffered from a congenital kidney defect, requiring a kidney transplant donated by his father, despite the mismatch in blood type and tissues, according to the local news site “Roaya.”
This surgery is considered the first of its kind in Jordan, and the experience of the medical professionals played a crucial role in its success, according to local reports.
