Iran: Official medical report attributes Mahsa Amini’s death to a “brain tumor” and not “beatings”

As expected, the Iranian forensic doctor’s report came in accordance with the official story, denying that the death of Mahsa Amini was a result of blows to the head and limbs, confirming that it was the result of failure in many of the body’s devices due to lack of oxygen in the brain.

An Iranian forensic doctor on Friday acquitted the morality police of the blood of Mahsa Amini, an Iranian Kurdish girl who died about 15 days ago after being detained by the security authority in charge of monitoring and applying the law of wearing the veil.

It was widely expected that the Iranian forensic report would correspond to the Iranian government’s version, especially after Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei declared his support for the security forces and their crackdown to put down the ongoing large-scale protests triggered by Amini’s death.

Sources confirm that a Mahsa Amini was beaten by the morality police, or that a member of the security unit pushed her to hit her head against a wall inside the detention room, causing her to bleed in the brain and enter into a coma a few hours after her arrest.

The Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) reported Friday that a report by an Iranian forensic doctor denied that the death of Mahsa Amini was caused by blows to the head and limbs, confirming that it was the result of failure in many of the body’s organs due to lack of oxygen in the brain.

The death of 22-year-old Amini, held by morality police, sparked protests across Iran that have been ongoing for more than two weeks. Her father says her body had bruises on the leg and blamed the police for her death.

Referring to the day she collapsed in custody, the coroner’s report said she regained consciousness before falling again during her detention due to what he described as “latent illnesses”. “Due to ineffective heart and lung resuscitation in the first crucial minutes, she suffered severe oxygen shortages resulting in brain damage despite the return of her heart to her pulse,” the report said.

Amini’s lawyer, Saleh Nikbakht, told the semi-official online news site Etemaad Online that “prominent doctors” believe she was beaten while in custody. Police denied any harm. She previously said she had a heart attack after being taken to the police station to “get her straightened out,” while Amini’s family denies their daughter has any heart problems.

The forensic report contradicts all medical accounts and estimates. The protests, which have entered their second week and have already cast doubt on the authenticity of the security version of Amini’s death, continue.

Several Western capitals also witnessed protests in solidarity with the Iranian and Iranian protests and condemnation of the widespread crackdown and the behavior of the Iranian security services.
