Jordan’s King – Towards a new era, military development and strong external relations

Since King Abdullah II took office, the Kingdom of Jordan has seen significant progress in the military, which has undergone a major transformation in terms of development, armament and progress, in addition to external relations. Jordan has had a strong international presence in all forums and has become a major mediator in the Palestinian cause.

Military development

After his accession to the throne 23 years ago, the armed forces were of great interest to Jordan’s King Abdullah II.

During his tenure, Jordan witnessed the militarized age, making it the most prominent military institution in the field of manufacturing and development in military industries and in cooperation with some international, Arab, and national industrial sectors.

The Jordanian Armed Forces began to have a distinguished place in the international peacekeeping forces. The Jordanian soldier has gained a civilized image in the world and its ability to deal in a civilized manner with the different cultures and peoples of the world has been enhanced.

Over the years, the Jordanian army has enjoyed a high level of combat and professionalism; this has reflected positively on their performance and ability to carry out their duties, whether in defending the homeland and the Arab world or participating in peacekeeping missions.

The Jordanian army is one of the largest and oldest armies in the region, with a role in maintaining regional peace, stability, and national security.

King Abdullah II succeeded in introducing all advanced weapons to the Jordanian army, training officers, and increasing the size of the armed forces to carry out their tasks peacefully and warmly, given the enormous responsibilities they shoulder.

Distinguished international presence

King Abdullah II succeeded in highlighting Jordan’s presence in international forums and paid special attention to the Palestinian issue. He made the issue a basis on all international and Arab occasions, always insisting that it was the strategic issue, always stressing that without its solution the global peace equation would remain incomplete and would continue to fuel injustice among many, making the resolution of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict the starting point for a process to establish peace in the world.

Since 2016, the Jordanian monarch has followed the strategy of delivering speeches at major international forums, in which local issues were present and the situation in the region. He also discussed current issues, foremost among them presenting the correct message of Islam and insisting on combating terrorism and extremism.

Most notably, he addressed the plenary session of the 71st United Nations General Assembly in New York, U.S.A.

There was also another speech at the Leaders’ Summit on the Refugee Crisis (on the sidelines of the 71st meeting of the UN General Assembly) in New York, USA.
