Libyan kills his father while ‘Asleep’ with 24 stabs

The city of Benghazi in Libya was shocked by a gruesome murder when a young man ended his father’s life with 24 stabs to the neck while he was sleeping.

Libyan security authorities announced on Friday the arrest of the suspect after he fled his town in the suburb of Al-Kwayfia.

The Benghazi Security Directorate reported that upon arriving at the crime scene, they found a body lying on the ground in the backyard of the house.

Investigations revealed stab wounds on the victim’s neck, and security forces obtained surveillance camera footage showing that the perpetrator was the victim’s son. The footage indicated that the perpetrator covered himself with a mattress to avoid detection by the cameras. After issuing an arrest warrant, the directorate received information leading to the apprehension of the perpetrator at the Boumrine Police Station, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Abyar Security Directorate.

The perpetrator, aged 28, confessed to killing his father with a white weapon, stabbing him around 24 times in the neck. He explained that he had been planning the crime for a while, taking advantage of his father being alone at home, and stabbed him while he was asleep.

The perpetrator also admitted to dragging his father’s body to the backyard of the house, stabbing him four more times before fleeing. He justified his crime by claiming that his father was “abusing and torturing” him, revealing that he suffers from psychological disorders. Legal procedures were taken for his presentation to the prosecution.
