According to informed sources, the commander of the Sixth Sector of the 22nd Mechanized Brigade—part of the Taiz military axis controlled by the Al-Islah party—along with armed groups under his command, seized the land, which has been owned by the Yemeni Economic Corporation for over 40 years and spans an area of 5,275 square meters.

Sources indicate that the commander began encroaching on the land in July of last year for personal gain. In December, he installed children’s playground equipment after demolishing the property’s boundary wall.

According to these sources, the Yemeni Economic Corporation filed an official complaint with the Governor of Taiz, Nabil Shamsan, stating that the military commander had defied high-level orders demanding he vacate the land and return it to the institution. These orders were issued by the Presidency, the Minister of Defense, the military axis commander, and the security director.

The sources added that the institution requested the governor take urgent measures to stop the land appropriation, ensure the recovery of its rights, and protect public assets.
