New documents reveal the hidden in Turkish embassies
New documents expose spy addiction in Turkish embassies abroad, targeting regime opponents, in an attempt to silence their voices.
Documents published by the Swedish website Nordic Monitor, including a statement issued by the Turkish Foreign Ministry.
According to the “classified” statement, the Turkish embassy in Kosovo gathered intelligence on 78 people who registered as teachers when they applied to the consulate for various services.
The same is true in other Turkish embassies and consulates at the request of the Directorate General of Security (Amniat) in Turkey, according to Nordic Monitor.
According to the Swedish website, the rationale behind this unprecedented manhunt was the belief that the Turkish expatriate teachers belonged to the group of the cleric Fethullah Gulen, whom the authorities accuse of being behind the 2016 coup attempt, which the man denies.
The data collected from these investigations were used illegally and later to file criminal charges against opponents of the Turkish regime for terrorist activities without tangible evidence, the website adds.
According to the Web site, Turkey’s embassy in Pristina played a key role in planning and providing logistical support to Turkish intelligence to abduct six opponents of Erdoğan.
