New poll: The ‘Justice and Development’ government is the cause of the economic crisis in Turkey
A new poll conducted by the research company Metropol revealed that the majority of Turks hold the government of the Justice and Development Party responsible for the economic crisis.
In a press statement carried by the Turkish newspaper Zaman, Metropol founder Ozar Sinjar said: A question was asked: “Who is most responsible for the current economic problems?”
According to the results, 62.5% of those held responsible for the government, 7.5% were the opposition, and 23.8% were the external powers.
Analyzing the responses given according to the party’s base, it was noted that half of the AKP voters blamed foreign powers, in support of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s view.
Among Nationalist Movement Party voters, 47.4% are those blamed for the economic downturn of external forces.
In a context of economic crises, a Republican People’s Party report revealed that 330,289 Turks, mostly young people, migrated abroad in 2019.
The report, published by the Republican People’s Party on the occasion of Youth and Sports Day, titled “The Massive Brain Drain Caused by the Justice and Development Party”, included information that 330,289 people migrated abroad in 2019. It was pointed out that the majority of these people are young people between the ages of 25 and 29.
The Youth Research Report published by the University of Yeditepe and MAG Consulting in September 2020 found that 76% of young people aged 18-29 want to live abroad “for a better future”.
In the poll, participants were asked, “If you are ruling this country, what problem will you solve first?” 46.7% of young people answered the question “unemployment”, 8.8% “cost of living” and 7.6% “justice”.
