Saudi Arabia’s defense forces interrupt a ballistic missile launched by Houthi over Najran

Al Arabiya sources stated that Saudi Arabia’s defense forces interrupted a ballistic missile over the city of Najran on Friday morning. Indeed, Najran constitute a city in southwestern Saudi Arabia next to the border with Yemen.

Thereafter, the Arab coalition affirmed that a missile was interrupted over the city, adding that the Houthis were targeting civilian objects that are protected under international law.

The intercepted attack comes less than 24 hours after that the Ministry of Energy declared that a petroleum distribution terminal in Jazan was attacked by a Houthi projectile, which induced the fire.

Besides, the Kingdom’s air defenses also interrupted and demolished on Thursday eight explosive drones launched by the Iran-backed Houthis targeting civilian areas in Saudi Arabia.

The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) quoted what the Ministry of Defense said on Friday that Iran-backed Houthi militia’s attack on a petroleum distribution terminal in Saudi Arabia’s Jazan affirm the group’s refusal of all peace efforts proposed by the Kingdom

On his part, defense ministry spokesman Colonel Turki al-Malki declared in a statement: These attacks confirm the terrorist Houthi militia’s rejection of all political efforts to end the crisis.

Al-Maliki also stated that the Houthi’s assault on the distribution station on Thursday night was cowardly, and did not only target Saudi Arabia and its economic facilities, but also targeted the global economy, the security of oil exports, and the stability of oil supplies.

Saudi Arabia suggested, previously this week, a new peace initiative to cease the current conflict in Yemen between the internationally-recognized government and the Iran-backed Houthis.

The Kingdom’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan declared during a press conference in Riyadh on Monday that the new initiative comprises a nationwide ceasefire that would be applied under the supervision of the United Nations.
