Strategic Error… Egypt’s Support for al-Burhan is Support for the Muslim Brotherhood

Talk of Egyptian military support to the Sudanese army is back in the spotlight as Egypt has delivered Turkish drones to Abdul Fattah al-Burhan, potentially escalating the war and raising questions about Cairo’s alliances, which appear to support al-Burhan and his Muslim Brotherhood allies.

Al-Burhan is driving Sudan to become a stage for Iranian and Brotherhood influence

The American newspaper “Wall Street Journal,” citing security officials, reported that “Egypt delivered Turkish drones of the ‘Bayraktar TB2’ type to the Sudanese army” in September of last year.

The circulation of this information indicates security coordination between Egypt and Turkey following the restoration of political relations between the two countries in May of last year. The sharp differences due to the presence of Turkish military forces in Libya, supported by fleets of affiliated mercenaries, have been overcome, and contours of understanding may appear in some regional issues between them, notably in Sudan, with both Cairo and Ankara inclined to support Chief of Staff General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan.
