What is the Relationship between the Founding of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, Iraq, Syria, and the Greater Israel Project?
Egyptian journalist Dandrawi El-Hawary has linked the establishment of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, Iraq, Syria, Jordan, and Palestine to the Greater Israel project.
In an article published in the newspaper (Youm7), El-Hawary wrote: “The story began after the end of World War I when a series of conferences were held to redraw the world’s geographic map, including the 1919 conference in Paris, attended by representatives from 32 countries and political entities, with the presence of the ‘Big Four’: U.S. President Woodrow Wilson, British Prime Minister David Lloyd George, French Prime Minister Georges Clemenceau, and Italian Prime Minister Vittorio Emanuele Orlando. They drafted five major treaties, including the division of Ottoman lands, the redefinition of borders for certain countries, and the creation of new states.”

The journalist continued: “On March 22, 1928, the Muslim Brotherhood was founded in Ismailia under the pretext of fighting British occupation, which was contradicted by documents and facts on the ground. The group made several political deals with Britain, as confirmed by numerous historians and experts in political Islam. They all agreed that the Brotherhood was a creation of British intelligence to achieve the goal of establishing ‘Greater Israel, from the Nile to the Euphrates’. The second point is the deep relationship that links Britain to the Brotherhood to this day!”
El-Hawary noted that in 1940, the Syrian branch of the Muslim Brotherhood was founded, considering itself a branch of the “mother” organization in Egypt. He mentioned the violent events the Brotherhood participated in, such as the Cairo fire and a series of assassinations, including Prime Minister al-Noukrachi Pacha and Khazandar.

They also clashed with Gamal Abdel Nasser, trying to replicate what they had done in Egypt. In Syria, the Muslim Brotherhood led the massacre of a group of students in June 1979, armed their supporters, and tried to assert independence in Hama. The Syrian regime responded violently, and President Hafez al-Assad banned the group and launched a large-scale purging campaign within it. In 1980, Law 49 was passed, which imposed the death penalty on anyone belonging to the Brotherhood.
In 1945, after the end of World War II, the Muslim Brotherhood was founded in Gaza under the leadership of Zafir al-Shawa, under the pretext of armed struggle against the Zionist entity. However, instead of uniting Palestinians to fight against Israel, the Gaza Brotherhood turned against their own people and their Arab cousins, thus fragmenting the Palestinian front. El-Hawary also mentioned October 7, 2023, which marked a turning point in the Palestinian cause and the entire region.

He continued: “In the same year that the terrorist organization was founded in Gaza, it was also established in Jordan in coordination with the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood. In 1949, they also established a branch in Iraq, once again considering themselves a derivative of the ‘mother’ in Egypt, practicing the same violent and militarized tactics, which led Iraqi President Abdel Karim Qassem to dissolve the organization in October 1960, arrest its leaders, and criminalize membership. The group continued to operate secretly.”
El-Hawary concludes: “After this brief historical overview, the question arises: what is the relationship between the foundation of the Brotherhood in these four countries and the Greater Israel project from the Nile to the Euphrates?”

He then elaborated on the narrative of Greater Israel, and Israel’s claims over rights to Iraq, Syria, Palestine, the Jordan River, and Egypt, viewing it as a divine gift promised to the Jews by God to Abraham. He argued that this project seeks by all means to fulfill this promise, aiming to create Israel from the Nile to the Euphrates.
Thus, he suggests that the creation of the Muslim Brotherhood is directly linked to the implementation of this project, as its establishment aims to sow worry and chaos in Israel’s neighboring states, namely: Egypt, Jordan, Gaza, Iraq, and Syria.
